Top 5 2023 NFL Draft prospects for Cowboys to keep an eye on
By Randy Gurzi
4. Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
With Jones taking less of an active role in the draft (even though he won’t admit it) there’s an outside chance he will have less to do with the actual gameday planning. Sure, it’s weird when an owner inserts himself here anyway, but Jones has always done so.
Fans can hope he will back off, but he’s not acting as though he will. He proved as much by recently saying Ezekiel Elliott should still be the focal point of their offense despite the fact that Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are on the same offense and Tony Pollard has been a better back than Zeke for more than a year.
Whatever ends up happening during the season, there could be a shake-up in 2023. Pollard is a free agent and Elliott’s contract provides a feasible out for the team after this season. That means there’s a scenario where both could be gone at this time next year, which means they might turn to the draft for a replacement.
If they feel up to using another Round 1 pick, Bijan Robinson from Texas could be an option.

The 6-foot-0, 215-pound back was great as a sophomore, running for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. He showed skill as a receiver as well, catching 26 passes for 295 yards.
He has great speed, vision, and can cut on a dime. He would have no problem stepping in and being the No. 1 back from day one, making him a player to keep an eye on throughout the year.
