Many Broncos fans are excited about this fourth-round pick out of Pitt. The cornerback had 87 tackles, 19 pass breakups, five interceptions, and one pick-six in his collegiate career.

Like other rookies, Mathis is likely competing for a spot on special teams. It’s unrealistic for him to land high on the cornerback depth chart with names like Pat Surtain II, Ronald Darby, and K’Waun Williams already ahead of him.

But that hasn’t stopped fans from admiring his impressive athleticism. During the Combine, Mathis ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash. He also had a 43.5-inch vertical jump and a 133-inch broad jump at his Pro Day.

The Pitt product is known for being a very physical player, but obviously, the Broncos haven’t been able to see much of that in practice yet.

Hopefully, we get a lot of questions answered about both teams in tomorrow’s matchup.
