Cowboys Mock Draft 2023: Secondary addressed in 7-round mock

Round 4: Jaheim Bell, TE, South Carolina
There’s a chance the Cowboys lose Dalton Schultz next season due to the inability to come to terms on an extension before the July 15 deadline. Now Schultz will play on the franchise tag, and with Dallas highly unlikely to use that designation again in 2023, he could be priced out.
If so, Jake Ferguson will likely take over as the starter — provided he proves himself capable during his rookie season. From there, they will need a new reserve, which is where Jaheim Bell from South Carolina comes in.

Bell is slightly undersized for the position at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, but he’s a weapon in the passing game. As a sophomore, he had 497 yards and five touchdowns for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He could be even more dangerous this season with Spencer Rattler now on board as their signal-caller.
Round 5: Mohamoud Diabate, LB, Utah
Micah Parsons is an absolute stud at linebacker and the Cowboys are hoping Jabril Cox can develop into a starter next to him. They do also have Leighton Vander Esch, but he’s unlikely to stick around beyond this season.
That’s why they add Mohamoud Diabate from Utah in Round 5. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Diabate started his career at Florida and had 89 tackles last season. He spent time not only as a linebacker, but also on the edge, and has 5.5 sacks in his career.
Now at Utah, he should spend time primarily as a linebacker but could be an interesting weapon for Dan Quinn to employ.
