With training camp just around the corner, the Dallas Cowboys still have over $22 million in cap space they can use in 2022. While they will surely roll some of this into the following season, they could also stand to bring in some veteran players at positions of need.

Knowing how long it’s been since the Cowboys tasted real playoff success, they should be willing to make some moves to take that next step — rather than trying to be as frugal as they have recently. With that said, here are three veterans they could sign before camp that could help them improve this year.

3. Bryan Bulaga, OT

Bryan Bulaga spent nine years as a starting left tackle for the Green Bay Packers, spending most of that time with Mike McCarthy as his head coach. He then spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and, while his production declined, he could still be a smart add in Dallas.

Right now, the Cowboys are starting Tyron Smith on one side and Terence Steele on the other. Smith is one of the best at his job, but struggles mightily with injuries and will surely need to be replaced for a game — or more — in 2022.

Behind them, Dallas has two players who have never seen any NFL action in Josh Ball and Matt Waletzko. Ball, a fourth-round pick in 2021, spent his rookie campaign on the IR and Waletzko was a fifth-round pick from a small program — North Dakota.

Adding Bulaga would give them much more experience behind Smith, while also giving them an option if Steele struggles to replace La’el Collins on the right side.
