The 2020 NFL Draft ended up being one of the better ones in recent history for Dallas. While Jerry Jones sat on a yacht, the picks just continued to be home runs. They landed CeeDee Lamb in Round 1, followed by Trevon Diggs in Round 2, Neville Gallimore in Round 3, and then for good measure, got a new starting center in Tyler Biadsz with one of their two selections in the fourth.

Reggie Robinson II was their other fourth-round pick, right before Biadasz, and he’s the only one of their first five selections not slated to start in 2022. That in itself is impressive, but it doesn’t mean all those players have been without question.

Biadasz, for example, has been under the gun for his play, which has included some untimely penalties as well as getting bullied at times. Others have been on Diggs’ case for giving up the deep ball, but they should be fine with that occasionally since he does have 14 interceptions in just two seasons. There are even those asking if CeeDee Lamb can be the No. 1 guy this year.

However, there’s one draft pick from that class who seems to escape criticism: Neville Gallimore. The Oklahoma product has played in 19 games with 13 starts in the past two seasons in the NFL. The 302-pounder (who might be heavier now as reports say he put on 16 pounds of muscle) is expected to start next to Osa Odighizuwa, but so far, he hasn’t truly proven to be the difference-maker he gets credited for.

Gallimore has 41 tackles and two sacks to his name but not addressing the position at all in free agency and waiting until Round 5 to take John Ridgeway is a sign that the third-year pro could be getting overvalued at this point in his career. Like Steele, the coaching staff could be right, but this is a bit of a gamble right now.
