2. Sean McKeon, TE

All of the talk around the tight end group for Dallas is focused on the negotiations with TE1 Dalton Schultz. Will they or won’t they sign him to a new deal? In addition to all of the drama with Schultz, the Cowboys also added rookie Jake Ferguson in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Because of all of these other narratives, Sean McKeon has basically gone forgotten. However, Schultz sitting out OTAs out of contract frustration gave McKeon the opportunity to continue to build a rapport with quarterback Dak Prescott. That’s something he certainly needed after two seasons with a meager total of 184 offensive snaps under his belt.

He’s not going to beat out Schultz for the starting position, but he could become a starter down the road if they are unable to come to an agreement with Schultz or he gets hurt during the season.

We saw McKeon make some nice catches last season and one can only assume that with more opportunities he will be able to showcase those talents more. The Cowboys have used a lot of two tight ends sets in the past and if McKeon can continue to make plays down the field with teams focused on Schultz that will be a huge factor in Dallas’ ability to keep the chains moving and take pressure off Prescott and his other receivers.
