When covering the Dallas Cowboys, one tends to focus on the heavy hitters on the roster, talking about how they will perform heading into the season. But what about those lesser-known players? Whether they are overlooked because of injury, where they are in terms of their position on the roster, or just not in good enough shape to contribute on a consistent basis, these undervalued players are people that shouldn’t be ignored.

Dallas has had a history of finding players that many thought wouldn’t be able to contribute in a major way who turned out to be big factors in the Cowboys’ plans down the road. These three currently undervalued players may or may not have that potential but they are in a position to be factored into the Cowboys’ immediate plans.

Let’s take a look at these three players and see why they are undervalued and how they will be able to contribute in 2022 for the Cowboys.

3. Quinton Bohanna, DT

In the last two seasons under head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the Cowboys have made it a priority to bolster their defensive tackle position with big space eaters. An example of that was Quinton Bohanna, who was drafted in 202 as a big-bodied space-eater who the Cowboys wanted to bring in to help clog the middle and affect the opposing teams running game.

Last season, Bohanna was only able to be on the field for 223 defensive snaps (24%). That’s not necessarily a fault of his, rather was due to the talent ahead of him on the roster. The biggest issue last season for Bohanna was his cardio. At 360 pounds, he just didn’t have the stamina to be productive if given more snaps during the season.

After a full offseason with the Cowboys trainers and building a workout plan for him during the offseason, we can assume that Bohanna is going to be more ready physically to handle an increased amount of snaps on defense this season.

If he’s gotten his cardio in a better place then putting him on rushing downs is going to pay major dividends to the Cowboys’ run defense. Plus, with the addition of rookie John Ridgeway, the Cowboys have brought in someone who will be able to spell Bohanna at times to keep him fresh. Bohanna is a name you are going to hear a lot more this season.
