1. Dak Prescott gets injured again

There are few players in the NFL that receive as much undeserved criticism as Dak Prescott. Of course, as the starter for “America’s Team,” this is expected.

The same happened to Tony Romo who should have been seen as a success story since he went from an undrafted kid to the franchise leader in all the major passing statistics. While Prescott hasn’t passed Romo in those categories yet, he’s a compensatory pick that will likely do so — and on 31 NFL teams, he would be considered a great story.

Having said that, even those who want to unfairly criticize Prescott can’t explain away the issues this team had in 2020 after he broke his ankle. While Dallas was just 2-3 with No. 4, they were 3-8 without him.

Then in 2021, he was once again dealing until a calf injury slowed him down. Prescott missed one start, which ended up being a win over Minnesota thanks to a huge game from Cooper Rush, but he was never the same after returning.

Sure, he had a great statistical season once again, but there were times he just wasn’t getting enough on his throws and his mobility was spotty as well.

Looking ahead to 2022, the Cowboys say he’s ready to roll — and ready to be a mobile quarterback again who can attack with his legs.

In this final nightmare scenario, the Cowboys would completely fall off the map if Prescott again battles with health issues. They have proven over the past few seasons that they go as far as he does. If an injury were to slow him down, or knock him out completely, the same could happen for the entire team.
