1. Chase Young, DL, Washington Commanders

Controversial one here. The former second overall pick out of Ohio State did have an amazing rookie season (albeit not as great as Micah Parsons). His Pro Bowl nod and Defensive Rookie of the Year Award were well deserved. However, at some point, he can’t keep living off of 2020.

This defensive lineman came into the league with a ton of potential but has yet to truly prove himself as a top dog amongst the league’s best.

Yes, he tore his ACL in Week 10, but what Washington fans saw before that in 2021 wasn’t all that fabulous compared to year one. In 9 games, he only had 1.5 sacks and 26 total tackles. That’s not the kind of year you want a reigning Pro Bowler to have.

Given the 23-year-old is still on his rookie contract, it’s not like the Commanders are overpaying him, but he truly hasn’t lived up to the permanent hype of being a No. 2 overall pick.

Look at it this way… Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert were both top picks in the same draft class as Young. Think about what those two are doing for their teams. And, Burrow even bounced back from a brutal injury. If Young can’t do the same thing after recovering from an ACL tear this season, it may be time to deem him unworthy of a second-overall pick.
