The rest of the NFL may make fun of the NFC East for the strength of schedule or anything else, but the reality is that the division holds some of the biggest and most intense rivalries in sports. To be fair, when you’re America’s Team like the Dallas Cowboys are, every team wants to beat you. But, the Cowboys vs Eagles, Cowboys vs Giants, and Cowboys vs Commanders are some of the most historic rivalries in football.

Even though each of Dallas’s NFC East rivals made some serious improvements in terms of free agents or draft picks this offseason, the Cowboys still have a good chance to beat all three of these teams. While there are some roster players who should scare the coaching staff, there are others who are either getting significantly overpaid or haven’t performed as well as they used to or should be.

In this article, we will take a look at some of those players. A player from each NFC East rival team was selected as an overrated player. Let’s take a look.

3. Kenny Golladay, WR, New York Giants

Nothing paints a picture of overrated, or better yet overpaid, like this… Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs had more catches in the end zone of MetLife Stadium in 2021 than Kenny Golladay did.

For the New York Giants, Golladay has been the definition of a bust. After giving him a four-year, $72 million contract ahead of 2021, the wide receiver collected a meager 521 yards and zero touchdowns. Zero. That contract also came with a whopping $40 million guaranteed.

Some even wonder why the Giants signed him to such a lofty contract in the first place. In 2020, Golladay missed 11 games due to injury. How did they know what they were getting? With three years left on his contract, the Giants receiver will have a cap hit of over $21 million in the next three seasons. That’s a lot of money for someone who literally isn’t doing their job.

Perhaps the most frustrating part of Golladay’s season is his blatantly visible lack of effort. In the above play, you can see that the WR barely tried to bring in this catch from backup quarterback Jake Fromm.

The Cowboys got rid of Amari Cooper for lack of production and he had 865 yards and eight touchdowns. The Golladay situation is a textbook case of an overrated player. He was clearly not what the Giants thought he would be. But, hey! Diggs gets to square off against him twice a year, which is a win for Dallas.
