These Mike McCarthy quotes will get you excited about Cowboys’ rookie class

2. McCarthy on Jalen Tolbert

In just a short weekend, Tolbert seemed to impress many. The third-rounder has the opportunity to get serious reps in the first few weeks of the Cowboys season with Michael Gallup still recovering from his late-season ACL injury.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said the team is going to try and have him be a versatile receiver. Moore told reporters that Tolbert will start in a Z-type position and then maybe move him to the slot. Overall, the third-rounder should expect to move around a lot, just like the other Dallas receivers do.

"“He’s awesome. I think he works his tail off. I think you can tell how prepared he is and how detailed he wants to be. I think he’s going to be a really good addition for us.”"

McCarthy had good reviews, too.

"“Just in the short time I’ve been around Jalen, I think he is going to do fine. He’s young. Frankly, one of the things he made a big point of in our initial conversation was he’s pretty young at the game of football. To me, that’s exciting. Using his words, he said ‘I don’t know how high my ceiling is but I think it’s going to be pretty damn high’ and I said ‘hell yeah, it’s going to be high!’ You can see he is natural inside and obviously has the ability. Watching him, and Will McClay and I were talking, he reminds you on first impression…his movement traits… he’s somewhere kind of between CeeDee and Cedrick Wilson.”"
