player. Scouting Report. DT. Free Agent. AkiemHicks. 1. Pick Analysis. 123

The top guy I want the Cowboys to go out and get is Akiem Hicks. He’s the top interior defensive lineman out there and he would provide this defense a great boost in run defense, pass rush, and swagger.

Hicks missed about half the season last year but played well regardless. He finished 2021 with 25 tackles, nine QB hits, 5 TFL, and 3.5 sacks. He also had a respectable 71.9 pass-rush grade according to PFF.

Adding a player like Hicks would be very beneficial for both sides. Hicks gets his chance at a Super Bowl ring and the ‘Boys get a big-body pressure machine. The team needs more leadership in the locker room, and having the former third-round pick would pay dividends.

The front office currently has about $10 million to work with in free agency. Adding one or two of these guys shouldn’t cross that threshold, and even so, there shouldn’t be any more additions thereafter. Make what you can with the cap space and load up on veterans who can come in and lead this young squad.
