5 free agents the Cowboys should consider after the 2022 NFL Draft
Another guy that can come in and provide some veteran leadership is four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr. He’s struggled a bit as of recent with injuries, missing 20 games over the past two seasons, but it wouldn’t be much of an issue if he’s used in a rotational role.
Barr isn’t the same as he was five years ago, but he’s still a serviceable veteran who can come in and help out a young defensive squad. At 30 years old, he is most likely looking to latch on to a contender to make a run for his first Super Bowl ring, so Dallas is a possible destination.
Last season, Barr played in 11 games, starting in all of them. He finished with 72 tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
With the current LB depth chart consisting of a part-time Micah Parsons, Leighton Vander Esch, Jabril Cox, Luke Gifford, newcomers Devin Harper and Damone Clark, and a handful of UDFAs, there’s not a whole lot of experience there. Barr can come in and fill that role while providing good coverage and tackling ability.
