Ex-Cowboys WR Dez Bryant wants to unretire and join this NFL team
Former Dallas Cowboys running back Dez Bryant has not played in an NFL uniform since 2020. That year, he played six games with the Baltimore Ravens, collecting only six receptions for 47 yards. Many believe the receiver’s career is over, but the 33-year-old thinks otherwise. Bryant apparently isn’t ready to hang up his cleats quite yet, despite very limited action in the last three years. He also hasn’t made a Pro Bowl since 2016.
Regardless, the former Cowboys star is eyeing a return to the NFL. He recently told TMZ Sports that he’s not only ready to get back to the game, but he also knows who he wants to play for: the Arizona Cardinals. I guess eight years with the Cowboys wasn’t enough to make him loyal to the team.
The All-Pro claimed that he is “almost” in game shape and that he would be ready if a team gave him a chance. So, why Arizona? Here is what the receiver told TMZ:
"“I love the swagger over there. I love the guys, especially DeAndre Hopkins. That’s my boy, we’re real close. My phone line’s open. I wouldn’t mind playing with Rondale Moore, Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins. It’s not even so much about starting — just being in that locker room and being a great example.”"
It seems highly unlikely that the Cardinals would sign a former player who hasn’t had serious NFL time for over five years.

Former Cowboys WR Dez Bryant tells TMZ Sports that he is not retired and that he wants to play for the Cardinals
Bryant could be wise by singling out Arizona. The Cardinals have held onto several players who are well into their 30s in the past couple of years. Larry Fitzgerald was on the team until he was 37, and current WR A.J. Green is 33 years old. Bryant would certainly have a lot of work to do to get a contract, though. The 3x Pro Bowler went on Sirius XM’s “I Am Athlete” show hosted by Brandon Marshall to talk more about his desired return:
"“If the Arizona Cardinals bring me in and give me the opportunity just to get my body right, get my mind right, just follow their roadmap on how they do things, I do think I would have a good shot to help facilitate. It’s always good to have someone who’s done it before and I really do believe that I have that type of experience to help those young guys, because the ability those guys have over there is just crazy. Being around an atmosphere like that, I’m going to be real with you, I think I would thrive, I would get better, those guys would get me better. I just think that we would make each other great and (I can help) get the Cardinals where they need to go.”"
One point in his favor is that it was just announced on Monday that Cardinals star WR DeAndre Hopkins will be out for the first six games of the 2022 season after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Although the team acquired Hollywood Brown in the draft, the Cardinals may still be looking for extra depth while Hopkins is serving his suspension.
