Sam Williams’ Cowboys Roster Fit

The team has had a need at defensive end since they lost out on Randy Gregory earlier this off-season and this looks like a pick to address it. Not only that, but I believe they may try to use him as a linebacker a bit as well.

With the versatility of both Williams and Micah Parsons, the two can be interchangeable and share similar skill sets. This will allow some pressure to be lifted off of Parsons and allow him to lineup at linebacker more often and not have to worry about rushing the passer full-time.

The current defensive end room is made up of Demarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong Jr., Dante Fowler Jr., Chauncey Gholston, and now the 56th pick. Even in a rotation, Williams will contribute, and again, he can step out and play linebacker or move inside a bit and rush guards. He is a complete Dan Quinn player and I’m excited to see what DQ can get out of the second-round pick.
