Sam Williams’ Weaknesses

Run Defense: The Ole Miss pass rusher’s biggest knock on the field is his run defense. He’s not horrible, but he’s not great. He struggles sometimes to set the edge and can get put on the ground sometimes. For reference, he graded at a 65.2 for run defending by PFF, good for 43 out of 122 in the SEC.

Bend: This is a smaller knock on his game. He can get a little stiff sometimes and lacks some flexibility to get around tackles. Williams doesn’t use much bend when he rushes and when he does, he’s often stifled.

Off-field Issues: As stated before, the Ole Miss product has had a troubled past. In 2020, he was arrested for a sexual battery case, but the charges were later dropped. The team seems to think it will be a non-issue with Williams, but just something to keep an eye on. It’s clearly the reason Williams fell so far in the draft.
