The 20 best draft picks in Dallas Cowboys history
One of the greatest interior pass-rushers for Dallas is Bob Lilly. Lilly was drafted at pick 13 in the 1961 Draft and wasted no time becoming one of the best players on defense.
The Hall of Famer made his first Pro Bowl in just his second season and recorded nine sacks. Over the course of his career, he had three double-digit sack seasons, 11 Pro Bowls, seven AP first-teams, and finished in the top 10 of the MVP voting four times.
He finished his career after 14 seasons without ever missing a game for the Cowboys. He had 95.5 sacks and helped the team win its first Super Bowl in 1972.
Our first of our top five starts with the late Rayfield Wright. Wright was selected in the seventh round of the 1967 NFL Draft and was initially expected to be a tight end for America’s Team. However, in his fourth season, the team put him at right tackle and he flourished.
From 1971-76, Wright made six ProBbowls, three AP first-teams, and two AP second-teams. The former seventh-round pick was regarded as one of the best offensive tackles in the ’70s and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
