The 20 best draft picks in Dallas Cowboys history
The final current Cowboy on this list is Zack Martin. Martin has had an incredible career since being drafted 16th overall in 2014. The guard has been a staple on the offensive line since he was a rookie, playing in 120 games out of 132.
As a rookie, Martin played so well. He finished second in the Offensive Rookie of the Year voting as a lineman. The amount of difficulty to do that in this era is crazy. He has made the Pro Bowl and an AP team in every season except for 2020, which was only due to an injury cutting his season short.
The future Hall of Famer has an insanely impressive resume. He has paved way for running backs and helped keep our quarterbacks on their feet, and will certainly be in the conversation of the greatest interior offensive linemen of all time when it’s all said and done.
A current Hall of Famer and former Cowboys first-round pick lands at 11 in Michael Irvin. He is the first leg of “The Triplets” mentioned on this list and was one of the best wide receivers of all time.
The legend struggled to stay on the field for his first three seasons with Dallas before breaking out in 1991. He led the NFL in receiving yards with just over 1500 yards and made the AP first-team and his first Pro Bowl. He then added four straight Pro Bowl appearances and two AP second-teams thereafter.
After his career was cut short due to injury, Irvin was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007 after finishing with almost 12,000 receiving yards and 65 touchdowns. He also helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowls during their historic run in the 1990s.
