The 20 best draft picks in Dallas Cowboys history
A fan-favorite, DeMarcus Ware lands at 14 on the best draft picks. As far as the greatest Cowboys ever, Ware would be higher on this list, but when it comes to draft picks, he already had high expectations going in.
The future Hall of Famer came in and immediately contributed, recording eight sacks in his rookie season and finishing fourth in the Defensive Rookie of the Year race. The next season, Ware started a seven-season streak of double-digit sacks, leading the league twice and finishing with 20 in the 2008 season.
DeMarcus would end up joining the Denver Broncos after the 2013 season, but his impact in Dallas will be forever remembered. He recorded 117 sacks in nine seasons with the ‘Boys and finished ninth in the official career sacks leaderboard with 138.5. He also earned nine Pro Bowl appearances throughout his career, seven of them being with the Cowboys.
Coming in at 13 is Hall of Fame defensive tackle Randy White. The three-position monster was drafted in 1975 as the second overall pick and made an impact immediately with the team, recording 11 sacks combined in his first two seasons as a backup.
He got his chance to start in year three and proved his worth, earning nine straight Pro Bowl selections, seven first-team All-Pro selections, and a Super Bowl MVP. He played all 13 seasons in Dallas and finished with 111 sacks before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994.
