The 20 best draft picks in Dallas Cowboys history
At No. 16 I have defensive end, Harvey Martin. Martin was the 53rd overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft. The Cowboy legend was one of the most dominant pass rushers in the league during his time, helping the Cowboys win Super Bowl XII, and also winning SB MVP.
Throughout his career, Martin racked up an unofficial 114 sacks, one DPOY award, four Pro Bowls, and one first-team All-Pro. His best season, in 1977, was one for the ages, where he led the NFL in sacks with 20, while winning DPOY and a Super Bowl.
Darren Woodson comes in at No. 15 on our Cowboys’ best all-time draft picks. Woodson was selected with the 37th pick of the 1992 NFL Draft. He had to wait until his second season before he got his chance to start, but he immediately ran with it when he got his opportunity, recording 155 tackles and three fumble recoveries.
Starting his third season, he went on an insane five-year run where he made five Pro Bowls, three AP first-teams, and helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowl titles. After the 2003 season, Woodson retired with 967 tackles, 23 interceptions, and 12 forced fumbles.
