Fifth-Round Pick (167th overall): Jake Ferguson, Tight End, Wisconsin

The Cowboys have made it quite obvious that they are interested in selecting a tight end at some point in the draft. If they are unable to get one of their top targets at the position, they should be interested in Jake Ferguson from Wisconsin.

Ferguson is your prototypical Cowboys tight end. He will not “wow” you with his speed or elusiveness, but he can get open and has good hands.

He can be a good backup tight end option for the Cowboys this upcoming season and could develop into more with the right coaching. Ferguson also has experience playing special teams at Wisconsin so he could contribute there in his first year as well.

This would be the safe pick the Cowboys would make in the fifth round with hopes it could pan out in the long run.
