Trade Alert: The Dallas Cowboys receive pick 99 (third-round) from the Cleveland Browns for picks 129 (fourth-round),138 (fourth-round), and 176 (fifth-round).

Third-Round Pick (99th overall): Sam Williams, Edge, Ole Miss

Need a replacement for Randy Gregory? Here is your guy. Sam Williams from Ole Miss is an edge rusher the Cowboys have done a lot of work on pre-draft. He seems like just the guy you trade up to get.

Williams is fast, explosive, and a very good athlete. His on-field talent is not an issue, but he has some off-field concerns that will push him down many teams’ draft boards. The Cowboys have forever shown the willingness to take players with character concerns, and I expect this year to be no different.

Playing in the SEC, Williams was able to go up against two of the top offensive tackles in the draft in Evan Neal and Charles Cross. He showed serious strength against Cross, which was a small sample of the dominant college season he had in 2021.

The Ole Miss product recorded 12.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and was named Second Team All-American. His production was off the charts against some of the best players in the nation.

Williams is another player on the pre-draft visit list for Dallas, and he will more than likely be high on their draft board. There is a lot to like with Williams, and he could be a trade-up target for Dallas at some point in the third round.
