1. Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia

Devonte Wyatt is another player projected to go right around the end of the first round. He was an integral part of one of the best defenses college football has seen in many years, yet somehow often gets overlooked in this draft because of teammate and fellow DT Jordan Davis (a man on the Cowboys’ invite list).

Wyatt ended his collegiate career as a first-team All-SEC selection helping lead the Bulldogs to a championship win. This DT amassed 39 tackles, seven TFL, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 starts. He is great at causing disruption and is effective in both pass and run blocking. The 6-3, 307-pound Bulldog has great lateral movement, is explosive off the snap, and can chase down players when needed.

The combination of his size, power, and speed is appealing to any NFL team. There’s no doubt that Dan Quinn would love to get his hands on a player like Wyatt. He has the physical traits to be molded into an excellent defensive tackle in the NFL as a three-down disrupter. PFF said the Bulldog produced 26 pressures on 263 pass-rushing snaps last season. His numbers at the NFL Combine earned him a Relative Athletic Score is 9.56 out of 10.0, which is incredibly impressive for a player of his size.

Right now, Carlos Watkins and Trysten Hill are set to lead the defensive front. We already know Hill is often injured, and Watkins is good but not excellent. Although there are several gaps to fill on this roster, adding a promising defensive tackle could be a great move for the Cowboys.
