With the 88th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select…

JoJo Domann, Linebacker, Nebraska

Height: 6’1″  Weight: 230lbs

Career Stats: 209 total tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 18 passes defended, 9 forced fumbles

This Dallas defense needs to add depth at linebacker and Domann would fill the immediate void left after Keanu Neal wasn’t brought back. Domann was a safety who converted to a linebacker and excels in pass coverage. He doesn’t have any problems mixing it up with offensive linemen in order to make plays. The Nebraska product is also another player like Leal who can be moved around in order to keep teams guessing. If the Cowboys have concerns about Jabril Cox’s ACL recovery, then Domann would be able to come in because we know this team doesn’t trust Leighton Vander Esch in coverage.

Reason for the pick: If Dallas wants to protect themselves in passing situations and allow Parsons to rush the passer, then they need someone who has the ability to cover tight ends and running backs in space. With Cox returning from injury, Domann would immediately carve out a role for himself on passing downs and on special teams.

With the 94th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select…

Rasheed Walker, Offensive Tackle, Penn State

Height: 6’5″  Weight: 324lbs

Career Stats: 32 starts as Left Tackle

We all have to come to grips with the fact that left tackle Tyron Smith is breaking down and just can’t be relied upon to be on the field each week. Dallas needs to find their tackle of the future/ They took Josh Ball in 2021, but he was injured all season and that’s never a good start to your NFL career.

Walker has gone up against some of the better edge rushers during his time in the Big Ten and that experience should help him take his game from the college level to the pros. He’s got the size and mobility teams covet in the NFL at the offensive tackle position. He does a solid job in pass protection and when he gets his hands on you in the running game you’re either going to the ground or the sideline. He could develop under Smith and take over if Smith gets hurt or in year two.

Reason for the Pick: The Cowboys need to think about the future of this offensive line and the health of franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. Walker also has experience at right tackle if Terence Steele reverts back to his 2020 season.

With the 97th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select…

Sam Williams, Defensive End, Ole Miss

Height: 6’3″  Weight: 258lbs

Career Stats: 134 total tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 passes defended, 6 forced fumbles

Coming out of his Pro Day, Williams said that when he talked to America’s Team, they told him they were looking for another Micah Parsons, and Williams believes he can be that guy. For a guy his size, his explosiveness out of his stance is ridiculous and his unrelenting motor keeps offensive linemen on their heels and quarterbacks’ head on a swivel. He has the ability to switch inside and rush from the inside or stand up and cause havoc off the edge. The Ole Miss product does have some issues with penalties and needs to play with more control and consistency but all of that can be taught and worked on in the NFL, none of it is a deal-breaker.

Reason for the Pick: The Cowboys need another long-term answer for the loss of Randy Gregory this offseason. Williams, while still rough around the edges, will be able to come in and immediately provide this team with another effective pass rusher to pair with Lawrence and Parsons. That would create a pretty tough group to prepare for let alone block.
