So, let’s pretend $6.5 million in 2022 for an elite veteran linebacker is too expensive. Fine. Here is another excellent (and young) linebacker option who would have satisfied the Jones’s bargain bin desires. Kyzir White is a steadily improving linebacker who spent his last four years with the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s essentially doubled his tackling stats in each year he’s played going from 17 to 40 to 77 to 144.

Last year, he added two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack. Plus, he had a small 88.1 passer rating allowed when targeted in coverage. White, who is only 26 years old, now brings a potential long-term threat to yet another NFC East rival. As a safety turned linebacker, he also brings some speed and versatility to the Eagles roster.

Initially, the reports were that Philly signed the former Charger to a one-year deal worth $5 million – which by the way is still very cheap for a breakout linebacker. However, when new details emerged, the fact that Dallas didn’t make a go at this budding defender was even more frustrating.

White is only making $3 million guaranteed this year! That is as much as the Cowboys’ punter Bryan Anger is set to make in 2022. Is anyone else frustrated? Just us?

It’s been hard to make sense of a lot of what Dallas has done this offseason. But the inability to bring these three players in is especially disappointing. Plus, the team is set to face all three of these players next season, two of them at least twice. I guess the Cowboys will literally have to see what they missed out on when they watch these players take the field on the opposite team in 2022.
