After trading Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and losing Cedrick Wilson to the Miami Dolphins, the Dallas Cowboys now have to find a way to fill starting and depth needs at wide receiver. The front office addressed the depth a bit by signing former Pittsburgh Steeler James Washington to a one-year deal.

Earlier this week, reports came out saying the Cowboys were interested in wide receiver DeVante Parker before he was traded to the New England Patriots, which indicated the team is still searching for receiver help. With the NFL Draft on the horizon and minimal veteran options still available, it is a real possibility that America’s Team takes a pass-catcher early especially given all of the wide receivers listed on their roster 30 official visits are projected to be first-rounders.

The receiver room currently consists of budding stars CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, newly signed Washington, and young guns Simi Fehoko and Noah Brown. In a deep class of wide receivers, the Cowboys could scoop up a falling top receiver in the first round. One of those could be Ohio State product Chris Olave.

A draft prospect Cowboys fans should be on the lookout for: Ohio State WR Chris Olave

Chris Olave is one of two Ohio State receivers projected to be selected in the first round of the draft this year, the other being Garrett Wilson. Despite being in a crowded receiver room in Columbus, Olave led the team in receiving touchdowns despite being third in receptions. A red zone threat is one of many ways to describe the star receiver, but we will dive deeper into that soon.

The Ohio State product was consistently involved in the Buckeye offense since he stepped on the field in 2018 and only saw his role expand over the years. He played mostly along the outside but spent almost 20% of snaps in the slot, so the versatility is there.

Olave enters the draft after a really solid senior season, piling up 65 receptions for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns. His season warranted consideration for the Biletnikoff Award, which is awarded to college football’s top receiver. He finished as a semifinalist for the award.

In this article, we will take a look at Olave’s weaknesses, strengths, and how he would fit with the Dallas roster. Let’s get started!
