It seems like every year were are talking about this Dallas Cowboys team and their need to add big bodies to the middle of their defensive line to help stop the run. Last season, they added Quinton Bohanna, who played well, and the Cowboys recently brought back defensive tackle Carlos Watkins on a one-year deal.

Those two players shouldn’t stop this team from going out and looking for another 300-plus pounder to add to Dan Quinn’s defensive front. While there are a plethora of positional gaps to fill, there was certainly a to of talk about the Cowboys’ pass rush last year. In this article, we are going to show the heavy lifters some love and take a look at a few players that could end up on America’s Team this season. These players can all be taken in later rounds so that Dallas can focus on other positional needs ahead of these picks.

3. Otito Ogbonnia, UCLA

Height: 6’4″  Weight: 324lbs

Career Stats: 76 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 6 passes defended

Last year, the Cowboys tried to address their issues with defending the run via free agency and the draft. The run defense improved but it can still get better with another big body added to the group. Otito Ogbonnia is a player who could help Dallas become a bit more stout in that department. Ogbonnia is a football player who also did shot put so that adds a big element of power to his game. He is an excellent player for a position in which the main goal is to clog lanes and handle double teams.

An added bonus with Ogbonnia is that he has a nice first step off the snap that allows him at times to create pressure up the middle. Combine that with his physical style and you have a player you can have come in and contribute sooner rather than later. Ogbonnia also hails from UCLA, which is where the Cowboys got Osa Odighizuwa.
