Round 3, Pick 88: T Abraham Lucas

After the team decided to release Collins, they seem to be putting all their faith into Terence Steele to fill the void. Steele has certainly improved, but who knows how he will do as a full-time starter. With Abraham Lucas on the board at 88th overall, there was no way I was passing up on him.

Steele did a fine job filling in for Collins, but he doesn’t seem to be a long-term solution at right tackle. He is a decent run blocker but leaves more to be desired in passing situations. Lucas could be a guy to compete with Steele for the starting right tackle spot.

The Washington State product was solid in the run game but was graded by Pro Football Focus as one of the best pass blockers in the nation. He played in all but one game this season and allowed no sacks, just one QB hit, and nine pressures.

Standing at 6-7, 320 pounds, Lucas is a monstrous human being who plays with a nasty competitive spirit. He shows good balance, lateral mobility, good length, and hand placement. Adding him would be great for the line and could shore up the right tackle spot for years to come. It would also allow Steele to go back to swing tackle, where he operates best.

Other notable prospects available: TE Jeremy Ruckert, WR Kyle Philips, T Rasheed Walker
