TRADE UP!

Round 2, Pick 42 (via Colts): WR George Pickens

With America’s Team having four fifth-round picks this season, they are in a good position to package one or more of those to trade up. In my mock draft, that happens here in the second round to grab 6-3 University of Georgia wide receiver George Pickens.

The current Cowboys wide receiver room consists of Lamb, Gallup, Washington, Noah Brown, and Simi Fehoko. Adding Pickens could give the Cowboys flexibility to move Lamb to the slot where he is most dangerous, and allow Pickens and Gallup to play outside the hashes. Washington, Brown, and Fehoko are far from certified starters.

The Georgia Bulldog missed most of the 2021 season due to injury but came back for Week 13 and the playoffs. He ended up finishing the season with just 107 yards on five catches but averaged over 20 yards a catch. As you can see below, the ball skills, speed, and big-play ability are evident all in one play.

George is a master of route running and creating separation which is key to success in today’s NFL. That along with his speed, quickness, and hands should fit very well in Dallas. However, a trade up could be required to bring his talents to The Star, but it works out in this situation.

Other notable prospects available: G Tyler Smith, T Daniel Faalele, WR David Bell
