6 potential replacements for Cowboys former DE Randy Gregory
One free agent that has been in the news recently is former Green Bay Packer Za’Darius Smith.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Smith was heading back to the Baltimore Ravens, where he started his career, on a four-year, $35 million deal. However, on Thursday, reports came out that Smith was backing out of his agreement with the Ravens and is now back on the market. This marks the third player to back out of his initial agreement with a team, the others being Gregory and running back J.D McKissic.
The Cowboys have missed out on so many other linebackers and defensive ends. They would be wise to make a run at Smith before someone else does. The former Kentucky Wildcat’s reported contract was supposed to be around $8.5 million per year, which is a very good value for what he does when healthy. From 2018 to 2020, Smith had 34.5 sacks, 39 tackles for loss, and six forced fumbles.
If Dallas can raise the offer that Smith accepted from the Ravens and give him a chance to play with Lawrence and Parsons, I see the Cowboys having a very good chance of landing the star defensive end.
