According to several NFL insiders, the Miami Dolphins are planning to sign Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cedrick Wilson to a three-year, $22.8 million deal. This comes just two days after news that WR1 Amari Cooper is reportedly being traded to the Cleveland Browns. That’s two wide receivers gone from the roster in just two days.

You may remember Wilson as the reliable WR4 with impressive passing abilities. When Michael Gallup was injured throughout the 2021 season, Wilson stepped up and made his name known. So much so that it seems Dallas knew they weren’t going to be able to pay him what he earned after his breakout season. His reported new contract gets Wilson over $7 million a year, which is a huge upgrade from the one-year, $2 million deal he was playing on in 2021.

The Cowboy had his best year as a pro last season. He collected 45 catches for 602 yards as the fourth in line in the wide receiver corps. He also had six touchdowns and averaged 13.2 yards per catch. Wilson will join Jaylen Waddle and DeVante Parker in Miami as the team is likely getting rid of Will Fuller.

As far as the Cowboys receiver corps goes, they are reportedly signing currently-injured Michael Gallup to a massive, five-year deal worth over $62 million. With him and CeeDee Lamb set for 2022, who will become the new WR3 for Dallas?

Cowboys keeping long-snapper Jake McQuaide over other special teams players

In other free agency news…after reports that kicker Greg Zuerlein was released and the chatter that punter Bryan Anger will unlikely to return (reportedly due to cost), the Cowboys decided they want to keep long snapper Jake McQuaide around for 2022. McQuaide replaced longtime starter L.P. Ladouceur in Dallas. Like Zuerlein, McQuaide is a John Fassel favorite. The long snapper is a two-time Pro Bowler (2016 & 2017) and played for Fassel on the Rams.

McQuaide will be returning on a one-year extension and is getting paid the veteran minimum. This all makes sense given the Cowboys clearly aren’t interested in spending money on special teams. They told Anger to walk given he is looking for a more lucrative contract after a Pro Bowl season and they cut Greg the Leg to save money on his lack of performance. To get a decent snapper like McQuaide on a minimum deal completely checks out.

Free agency is in full swing Cowboys Nation! More and more moves are coming. Buckle up!
