1. J.C. Jackson, Cornerback, New England Patriots

Adding J.C. Jackson to the Cowboys’ defense would be like adding Thanos to the Avengers. If you do not get that analogy, you just need to know that Jackson is really good. He is undoubtedly one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and he could vault Dallas into a top-five defense.

This past season Jackson had eight interceptions, 23 passes defended, and was named second-team All-Pro. He has 25 career interceptions in four seasons, which means he could continue to help the Cowboys’ defense lead the league in turnovers and interceptions. In addition to interceptions, he also has the man-coverage skills that many cornerbacks lack. He is an all-around outstanding player.

While it is unlikely Jackson leaves New England, there is some turmoil between the two in the lack of contract negotiations. But the Patriots likely can’t afford to lose a player this good. There are even talks that the team may put him on the franchise tag next season.

Could this possibly open the door for other teams to slide in? Probably not, but it would at least give them a chance if he hits the open market. Unfortunately, Dallas does not have nearly enough capital to pay Jackson what he is worth.

Even though signing Jackson would be the dreamiest target for the Cowboys he would help vault this defense into one of the NFL’s best and that makes him worth the money. As we know, the likelihood of any of these players making their way to Dallas is slim to none. But sometimes, it’s nice to dream.
