It’s time to look take another look at future prospects with ties to young Dallas Cowboys players. The next player on this list whose impressive showing in his first year could lead the Cowboys back to his alma mater is Jabril Cox. Though his rookie season was cut short due to a knee injury, the LSU product impressed and started taking snaps from Leighton Vander Esch on passing downs.

Cox’s play on the field along with the Cowboys’ fondness for drafting prospects from larger schools could lead them right to these four players from LSU.

Some of these draftees are early picks and others could be taken in later rounds, but each one would be a building block for the Cowboys’ future. Let’s take a look at these players, see what they bring to the table and how it could benefit America’s Team.

4. Chasen Hines, Guard

Height: 6’3 Weight: 349lbs

Draft Projection: Day Three

The Cowboys are in need of a starting left guard, as well as depth at the position, and Chasen Hines could potentially fill one of those needs depending on what the Cowboys’ free agency moves look like. This athletic guard is reliable in pass protection, but his bread and butter are in the running game where he can either pull to make blocks or just unleash his strength and create running lanes.

Adding a guard with the strength and athletic ability of Hines to this offensive line could help bring back the Cowboys’ once-dominant running game to go with the air attack led by Dak Prescott. Plus, Connor Williams is one of many Cowboys free agents who likely won’t return next year.

The only thing that will hold Hines back is the fact that he has been bitten by the injury bug quite a bit and teams tend to shy away from players who can’t stay healthy. If that’s the case, then that’s good for the Cowboys as we’ve seen them take players with injury concerns over the years without any hesitation in hopes the player will be effective in the long run.
