If the Dallas Cowboys learned anything from the Super Bowl, it should be that there are many great wide receivers in this league. Therefore, the Cowboys need to find another great defensive back to help them keep receivers at bay.

The 2022 NFL Draft seems to have a good group of defensive back talent and one of them may be the best option when the Cowboys are on the clock for the 24th overall pick. The Cowboys’ current salary cap restraints will make it difficult for them to sign any difference-makers in free agency.

Because of that, the draft will be incredibly important for Dallas this year. Without further ado, here are three defensive backs options for the Cowboys’ defense.

Will the Cowboys go back to the well and draft another Penn State defender in the first round? It worked out amazingly for them last year, and if they end up selecting Jaquan Brisker, they will get another impact player from the Nittany Lions.

Brisker is seen as a safety that can “do-it-all,” meaning he can play in coverage and at the line of scrimmage. He is a good tackler and has been successful while blitzing. He almost seems like a perfect replacement for Jayron Kearse if the Cowboys are unable to resign him.

The Penn State safety stands at 6-1 and weighs 204 pounds. He is quite the athlete. Brisker is quick, rangy, and instinctual which helps him match up with tight ends and wide receivers in coverage. While Brisker is probably best playing man coverage, he is still capable as a single-high safety.

The Cowboys need a playmaker on the backend and Brisker would be a perfect match. Adding him to a defense with Parsons, Trevon Diggs, and DeMarcus Lawrence could give the Cowboys another star as they look to build off of their much-improved defense in 2021.
