2. Ellis Brooks, Linebacker

Height 6’1, Weight 235lbs

Draft Projection: Day 3

Career Stats: 230 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles

I know, I know. This is the third linebacker and another with a late-round projection. But hear me out. While Brooks is seen as a later-round pick, he was able to put good tape out for coaches and scouts at the East-West Shrine Game. His 100 tackles this season are something that will catch people’s attention. Another good thing for Brooks is he was the play-caller for the Nittany Lions taking over for Parsons after he left in 2020, which shows leadership to teams around the league.

He’s a quick linebacker who uses his hands well enough to disengage from blockers and attack the ball carrier. He’s able to drop into man coverage and zone coverages but he can get fooled on routes or play-action passes causing large plays at times in games.

Like Parsons though, what separates him from the other linebackers would be his ability to rush the quarterback and get pressure. He is able to get low and avoid blockers and get around the edge quickly. That is something the Cowboys could use if they decide to pair these two together.
