Mock draft season is upon us, and now that the Senior Bowl has been played, national media writers and mock experts are starting to update their mock drafts based on how they are feeling about where NFL teams may be leaning. With events like the Senior Bowl and combine coming up, certain players may end up higher or lower than they initially were expected to be after the NCAA season.

Let’s take a look at a few of those mocks and see if there are any emerging players that could be on the Dallas Cowboys radar ahead of the 2022 NFL Combine later this month. Remember, the Cowboys are set to have the 24th overall pick in the draft.

These are still very early mocks so the focus on players will be changing quite a bit over the next few weeks and months but it’s still nice to get some early insight into who the Cowboys may have some interest in based on who they have spoken with and may have briefly met with as well.

Taking a look at seven mock drafts to see who the Cowboys may get in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft

7. Pro Football Focus – David Ojabo, Edge, Michigan

Career stats: 36 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 3 passes defended

"“This pick is really going to depend on what happens with DeMarcus Lawrence. If Lawrence leaves, they’ll need another pass-rusher to pair with Randy Gregory and Micah Parsons. Ojabo is bendy and while he’s still learning to play the position, his potential is through the roof. He played under 50 snaps in 2020 and then exploded alongside Hutchinson this past season to help Michigan win the Big Ten.” – Seth Galina, Pro Football Focus"

Ojabo plays with a great amount of speed and uses that to beat tackles on the edge. The Wolverine also has nice bend to turn to the corner and flatten out to get to the quarterback. He has a good array of pass rush moves, but he is a name I could see going well before the Cowboys’ 24th pick. If he is there though he would be a nice addition for a team with questions surrounding their two best pass rushers on the team.
