Cowboys’ Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs all over NFL Top 100 ballots
Every year, the NFL asks players to vote on who they think the top players in the league are. The voting culminates in a television series on NFL Network counting down the list in descending order. The rankings are based on an off-season poll organized by the league. The only people eligible to vote are those who are not retiring for the next season. Speaking of retiring, Tom Brady is the only player who has been voted No. 1 overall for multiple years and back to back (2017, 2018).
The voting usually causes quite a stir in the NFL community. Fans and players get upset about where people are ranked and who did and didn’t make the list. On Tuesday, the NFL released three anonymous ballots. The Dallas Cowboys star young defenders, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, made multiple appearances on those three ballots.
According to Pro Football Talk, every player is asked to participate, but usually, only a small percentage of athletes do. To vote, each league member lists only their Top 20 names. The athlete listed No. 1 gets 20 points, No. 2 gets 19 points, so on and so forth.
On the first ballot, Diggs was listed as No. 7. On the second, Diggs was listed as No. 17. On the third, Diggs was listed at No. 9 and Parsons was No. 20. Personally, my favorite part is the handwriting. Unfortunately, these ballots are anonymous so we don’t know who they belong to.
Cowboys’ Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs are present in multiple NFL Top 100 ballots
Of course, these are just three of hundreds that will come through. But it is nice to see the Cowboys getting some love amongst the league’s best. Last year, the only Cowboy to make the list was guard Zack Martin at No. 85. This year, the Cowboys will hopefully have better numbers.
It’s interesting to see the variance in the ballots as well. Some other names to appear on these rankings are defenders like Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, TJ Watt, Myles Garrett, and Nick Bosa. There’s no denying those guys are top talents in the league.
Which names were seen on all three ballots? Probably guys that won’t shock you very much. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Cooper Kupp, and Myles Garrett. Surprisingly, last year’s No. 1 overall, Patrick Mahomes, was only on two of the three.
We hope to see multiple Cowboys at the top of this list when the voting is over. But, like usual, the top spots will likely go to offensive players.
