2. Connor Williams, G

Just when we thought Connor Williams was past his penalty days, he essentially gave Jerry Jones permission to let go of him in the Wild Card game.

Look, Williams is a great guard. But when you have guys like Tyron Smith and Zack Martin, you can afford to give up a guy like Williams who isn’t always consistent.

The former Longhorn already got benched this season for three games due to penalties. He ended the season with 12 total enforced penalties, the second-highest in the league. 10 of those were holding penalties, a category he leads the league in.

PFF estimates that Williams will be a heavily sought-after free agent. They estimate he will get a contract of around $35 million for four years. Dallas does not need to drop that kind of money on a guy who is that penalty-prone. Williams will do great with another team as a solid blocker.

The front office can draft an offensive lineman with high potential that they won’t have to pay nearly as much. After all, they’ve done it plenty of times before.
