Twitter roasted Cowboys WR Cedrick Wilson’s terrible throw on trick play
The San Francisco 49ers waltzed right into AT&T Stadium and clearly showed the Dallas Cowboys that they were ready to play football. The Cowboys on the other hand… not so much.
The Dallas defense let the Niners walk all over them, and the Cowboys’ offense accumulated an embarrassing seven yards of total offense in the first quarter. Six passing yards and one rushing yard. Horrific. This fact adds to an ongoingly bad postseason stat for the Cowboys: today marks the seventh straight home playoff game where the Cowboys have not scored a touchdown in the first quarter.
On a 3rd and 16 play with three minutes left in the first quarter, wide receiver Cedrick Wilson tried to change that. As we mentioned in the past, Wilson has quite an impressive throwing resume in his career. In fact, coming into today, his completion rate was 100%.
So, he tried to flex those muscles in some capacity, and let’s just say, it didn’t go well. After rushing about six yards, Wilson tried to throw a lateral to running back Tony Pollard, and it was absolutely nowhere close.
While that technically won’t toss his perfect QB rating into the trash can, it didn’t boost his resume. You can see the play below.
The internet reacts to Cowboys wide receiver Cedrick Wilson’s awful attempt at a trick play
The GIFs, videos, and memes were quick to roll into the Twitterverse just moments after this terrible play.
Barstool Sports compared the pass to this insane throw during a previous New York Knicks game.
This account compared the trick play to the ever-entertaining Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite.
Pickswise used a GIF from one of the greatest Michael Scott moments from the hit show The Office.
Mike Leslie compared it to the classic moment where rapper 50 Cent attempted to throw the first pitch before a Mets game.
And the baseball references continued with this GIF from Major League.
This Connor McGregor moment actually looks incredibly similar to the pass by Wilson.
Let’s hope that Kellen Moore has both many more and much better tricks up his sleeve than this one. The Cowboys certainly aren’t going to win this game with seven yards of offense per quarter. They’ll need a big turnaround to come out victorious.
