Super Wild Card Weekend is here! The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to host the San Francisco 49ers at home in Texas. This rivalry is filled with lots of playoff history and this matchup should be an exciting one.

Since the start of this additional round of playoff games in the NFL, the Cowboys have played in 12 Wild Card games, going 7-5. Although Dallas and San Francisco have met seven times in the postseason, none of them were in Wild Card games.

The last time these two teams faced off in the playoffs was in the 1994-95 season, marking the third straight year the two teams competed in the postseason. The result was a 38-28 loss. Dallas hopes for a different result over 25 years later.

To get ready for the big game, let’s take a look at some of the most, well, “wild” Wild Card games in Dallas history. To some football fans, a few of these games are an insane memory. To others, some of these games are heartbreaking moments.

5. Prescott’s first playoff win

This 2019 Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks marked the first big win of the Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott era and was the epitome of a back and forth game.

The score was as follows: 0-3 Dallas, 3-3, 6-3 Seattle, 6-10 Dallas, 14-10 Seattle, 14-17 Dallas, 14-24 Dallas, 22-24 Dallas.

This contest had everything. A gorgeous Prescott to Michael Gallup (who will sadly miss this weekend’s game) 11-yard touchdown pass, where a young Gallup found a way to make the catch despite intense pressure from Richard Sherman. An impressive toe-tapping catch by Doug Baldwin right at the sideline. Ezekiel Elliott sitting Sherman down with a gorgeous stiff-arm on a run.

And, of course, Prescott putting it all on the line with this aerial flip play to eventually get a touchdown. Prescott’s 226 passing yards in that game remain the most passing yards thrown in a rookie playoff debut.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys would lose in the Divisional Round to the Rams. But this Wild Card game against the Seahawks was a thriller. The Cowboys haven’t made it to the playoffs since that 2018-19 season. Will this Wild Card matchup be just as exciting?
