2. Keep Forcing Turnovers

The Cowboys have been one of the best teams this season when it comes to takeaways. They have forced 33 turnovers, which ties for first in the NFL. Additionally, of the 33 turnovers, 25 of them are from interceptions, the most in the NFL.

Turnovers have been a big part of Dallas’ success this season. When the Cowboys have won the turnover battle, they are 8-1 compared to 3-4 when they don’t.

That’s a general rule of thumb for teams in the NFL, win the turnover battle. Conveniently, the top eight teams this season in terms of forced turnovers are all likely in the playoffs. The only team that ranks in the top eight and hasn’t clinched yet is the Indianapolis Colts, who will get in with a win on Sunday.

As for the Cowboys, forcing turnovers has been their bread and butter, thanks in large part to cornerback Trevon Diggs. Fans can say what they want about Diggs allowing the most yards in the league, but his natural ballhawk instincts have been key for America’s Team.

After the Cowboys started this game with a quick punt, Diggs gave the offense the ball right back with this big interception. Yes, it happened at the start of the game, but, this led to a Cowboys touchdown and changed the game, all in favor of Dallas.

Winning the turnover battle is one of Dallas’ strong suits coming into the playoffs. Their +13 turnover differential is the third-best in the league and has contributed to their season success. They must keep this up in the playoffs in order to do well.
