1. Randy Gregory, Edge

PFF has Cowboys defensive giant Randy Gregory (No. 17) listed as an edge. After returning from injury, Gregory has been incredible for the Cowboys. I think it’s fair to say that Dallas fans would be very sad to not see him in a Cowboys uniform next year.

Unfortunately for Gregory (but maybe good for the Cowboys), there are a few top-tier edge rushers in this free-agent class. Names like Von Miller (No. 5) and Chandler Jones (No. 4) sit at the top of the rankings.

Doubtlessly, Gregory has still proven that he is worthy of the two-year, $25 million deal PFF thinks he will get. Gregory is consistently in the top 10 for pass-rushing grades, pressure percentage rankings, and more. He may be big, but he is also explosive.

Right above him at No. 13 is former first-overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney’s numbers have fluctuated over the last few years, but he is still a very effective pass rusher. Clowney has both more sacks (7.0) and more solo tackles (22) than Gregory, but Gregory is leading in forced fumbles.

Another edge on the list is Harold Landry III of the Tennessee Titans at No. 24. This guy is durable. He has played far more snaps than the next-highest rusher. Landry III is also versatile, playing at defensive end, outside linebacker, and more. He would be a huge asset to any team.

All in all, PFF seems to favor Gregory over many other edge rushers in the league. The Cowboy sits above Haason Reddick (No. 26), Emmanuel Ogbah (No. 29), Jerry Hughes (No. 31), Jason Pierre-Paul (No. 44), Justin Houston (No. 51), Melvin Ingram III (No. 57), and Derek Barnett (No. 58).

Having multiple Cowboys players in the top 40 is great for the current roster, but may be a big concern for the 2022 roster. We will have to see what pans out in terms of the salary cap and new contracts.
