Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott not worried about dwelling on the past
It’s not easy to forget about the past. Numerous times in the world of professional athletes, they have to keep things moving game by game and focus on the task at hand. Such is the case with quarterback Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
Coming off a loss isn’t an easy pill to swallow, especially a game so close, you could have actually left it victorious against the defending Super Bowl champions. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, they lost their Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and now, everything shifts to their Week 2 showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In the grand scheme of things, a loss is a loss and well, it’s time to move on and focus on getting back on the right track. That’s all we can do as Cowboys fans as it’s great to see that Prescott is doing the same thing since well, this was a familiar feeling that was very hard to shake off from when it came to last season.
Dak Prescott will not dwell on Week 1 Dallas Cowboys loss
In an article written by the Dallas Cowboys for their official website, here’s what Prescott had to say about the best way to deal with the current state of the franchise:
"“The last thing you can dwell on is what’s happened,” he said Thursday. “I’ve learned that personally, and I think this team learned that last year.”"
Prescott hit the nail right on the head and honestly, this will only help the cause. It’s true, dwelling on Week 1’s tough loss at this point in time just isn’t worth it. Yes, the Cowboys got hit with everything under the sun over these past few days from injuries, players landing on the COVID-19 list, and it’s not pleasant at all.
2021 was supposed to be a season of redemption. A year where America’s Team proves they are indeed a playoff-contending team and showcasing to the football world that they mean business. With a talented roster that should be able to compete against anyone, it hasn’t felt like that as of late but remember everyone, it’s just Week 1. There is literally a ton of football left to be played and it’s not time to hit the panic button in any way, shape, or form.
Overall, Prescott knows that what he speaks is the truth and that it’s probably best to take this new Cowboys season on a week-to-week basis. Let’s stop dwelling about last week and focus on this Sunday’s game because, on any given game day, anything can and will happen. We just have to take this season one game at a time and continue supporting our Cowboys.
