In today’s press conference, head coach Mike McCarthy gave the Dallas Cowboys fanbase the answer they’ve been looking for. According to coach McCarthy, quarterback Dak Prescott is “full go” to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sep. 9th for Thursday Night Football.

When Prescott went down with his ankle injury in Week 5 last season against the New York Giants, fans got a glimpse of what a season can look like without their star player. Down the stretch with backup quarterback Andy Dalton, the Cowboys had a 4-7 record and missed out on the playoffs finishing third in the division. That is not the standard owner Jerry Jones wants.

Prescott was able to practice without any limitations to start training camp, but on the first day of padded practice, he felt some soreness in his throwing shoulder. After walking off the field with head athletic trainer Britt Brown, the questions started to pour from the media.

What was originally estimated by coach McCarthy as a “couple day” injury turned into the starting quarterback not practicing for weeks and not taking a snap in the preseason. No two shoulder injuries can have the same timeline, so when it started to get later than the first preseason game, there was a growing fear that this would linger into the regular season.

Now, there’s no need for any more questions. When the Dallas Cowboys take the field at Raymond James Stadium, the team’s most important player will be in the huddle, barring any setbacks. If America’s Team and Prescott specifically get off to the offensive explosion like they did in 2020, fans can expect great things from their signal-caller and his shoulder.
