The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of trimming down their roster to 53 players as mandated by the NFL by Tuesday afternoon. But expect to see plenty of movement on that front throughout the week as the team shifts players to Injured Reserve, activates players off the Reserve/Covid list, and adds players to the team off the waiver wire and via free agency.

But with the preseason in the rearview mirror and the roster starting to settle, all eyes turn to the upcoming regular season and the pending Week One matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With that in mind, here’s one bold prediction for each of the Cowboys’ positional groups heading into the 2021 NFL regular season.

Quarterback

Prediction: Dak Prescott plays all 17 regular-season games and beyond

Prior to suffering a devastating ankle injury in Week Five, Prescott hadn’t missed a single game in his entire NFL career. That’s 72-straight starts since 2016 including the playoffs.

But coming off a season-ending ankle injury that forced him to miss 11 games in 2020 and a muscle strain that forced him to miss the entire preseason, fans may be worried that Prescott’s injury woes will continue.

But after inking a massive four-year, $160 million contract, Prescott has something extra to prove in 2021. And based on his stellar track record, nothing short of another season-ender will force Dak to miss a single start this upcoming season and into the playoffs.
