The Dallas Cowboys appear to need an upgrade at swing tackle. That’s despite signing veteran offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe in free agency this offseason and the fact both Terence Steele and Brandon Knight started significant games for the team just last year.

Obviously, the biggest issue for the Cowboys’ offensive line is injury. Starting right tackle La’el Collins missed all of last season with a hip injury. And starting left tackle Tyron Smith played just two games in 2020 due to a neck injury.

Having a key reserve to backup both Collins and Smith coming off season-ending injuries should have been a bigger priority this offseason. Especially considering these are players charged with protecting a quarterback whom himself landed on Injured Reserve last year after suffering a devastating ankle injury in Week Five.

If the Cowboys are looking to upgrade their swing tackle position, they might find the answer on the waiver wire. One name to watch is Brandon Parker, the fourth-year offensive tackle for the Las Vegas Raiders. Patrik Walker of CBS Sports (and former Landry Hat alum) named Parker as a potential trade target in exchange for linebacker Jaylon Smith recently.

But ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez identified Parker as a possible roster-bubble candidate back in July. So if the Raiders do decide to part ways with the 2018 third-rounder who has 19 NFL starts under his belt, the Cowboys could find themselves a ready-made swing tackle.
