Almost an entire month into training camp (yes… really), the Dallas Cowboys are back at The Star in Frisco, Texas with two games under their belts. Last Friday, Dallas faced off against the Arizona Cardinals, falling 19-16 on a last-minute field goal.

The week that was since my last camp update also featured a few practices and the first round of cuts. For this installment of Camping with the Dallas Cowboys, I’ll give you some insights from the second loss in as many tries as well as my first prediction of what that final 53-man roster will look like.

During the preseason, the score truly does not matter much. Aside from maybe getting blown out, losing the game is secondary to losing players. Unfortunately for the Dallas Cowboys, two guys who were having very nice training camps will be out for a while after playing minimally Friday night.

Starting defensive tackle Neville Gallimore dislocated his elbow on the first defensive series of the night. A guaranteed starter who looked like a guy ready to flash, Gallimore will now likely miss at least six weeks. While the Cowboys do have other options, most notably rookie Osa Odighizuwa, this loss hurts.

On the opposite side of the ball, tight end Sean McKeon looked like a lock for TE3 with the camp he’s been having so far. On his first opportunity of the night, he had his ankle rolled up on while being tackled and is now also likely out for a minimum of six weeks.

Both guys are likely candidates to make the final 53, then immediately go on the IR designated to return list. This will force both to miss at least three games, but it will also give the Dallas Cowboys flexibility in adding more talent the day after everyone makes their final cuts.
