3 young Cowboys defenders flourish in loss to Cardinals
The Dallas Cowboys concluded their second preseason game on Friday night with a 19-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Cardinals kicker Matt Prater nailed a 47-yard field goal as time expired to give Arizona the victory.
Despite the end result, the Cowboys’ defense showed plenty of promise in the game. Including many standout performances from the young players on that side of the ball. The offense did manage to score their first touchdown of the preseason in the game but there was not a star individual effort from anyone on offense.
Without further ado, here are the three-star defensive performers from the week two preseason loss.
3. Osa Odighizuwa, DL
Osa was all over the field on Friday night, recording three tackles (two solo) and a tackle for loss. Those stats may not seem overwhelming but Osa is a versatile defensive lineman that can be utilized in multiple spots, which helps him have a large influence on each play.
He spent most of his time on Friday in Arizona’s backfield, having an impact on both running and passing plays. Once starting defensive tackle Neville Gallimore went down with an injury, Osa stepped in and helped hold down the fort on the defensive line.
His continued development and overall impact on the team during the regular season will be immense, especially if Gallimore misses an extended period of time. But No. 75 showed why he was taken with a day two selection in this past NFL draft, and why he was worth it.
