Season 16 of Hard Knocks premiered last night with the Dallas Cowboys as the main attraction. It is always great to give NFL fans a look into training camp, and we are lucky to see the Cowboys this season.

We saw plenty of Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Micah Parsons along with Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones. Episode one was filled with plenty of memorable moments and here are my five takeaways from the season premiere.

Dak Prescott’s leadership

As the star quarterback of the Cowboys, Dak Prescott has taken the reigns as the team leader. In this episode, Dak talked about his surgery and stated that he loves scars when referring to the scar on his ankle.

Prescott has had many over his years with the Cowboys both on the field and off. Some of the scars are visible and some not but his perseverance has helped make him one of the highest played players in the NFL and the leader of America’s Team.

As training camp began, Prescott showed his need/want for practice reps. Head coach Mike McCarthy wanted the team to ease Dak back into action, forcing Prescott to sit on portions of practice.

To say the least, Prescott was not happy. He wants to get every rep. He wants to get back into the swing of things. He wants to lead this team by example.

Then despite getting injured in practice, Prescott still wanted to stay out on the practice field and support his teammates despite not being able to participate. Moments like that may not seem like much to fans looking from afar but I am sure his teammates appreciated it.
