Dallas Cowboys top 5 preseason performers so far
3. Jabril Cox
I still wonder how Cox fell to the Cowboys in the fourth round of the draft. Coming out of LSU he was most known for his coverage ability but against the Steelers, he showed out in the run game.
According to Pro Football Focus, Cox received a grade of 76.7 which was the second-best grade on defense for the game. Knowing the injury history of the Cowboys linebackers Cox will most likely be asked to play significant snaps at some point this season.
Cox recorded four total tackles in the game, three of which were solo tackles. His development in run defense will be a big reason for his snap increases.
The rookie may be the best coverage linebacker on the roster so at the very least he should carve out a role on passing downs. I am very excited to see his encore performance this Friday when the Cowboys take on the Arizona Cardinals.
